I need help please. As above, i'm fitting rear seat back into a mk4 escort (90 spec seats, 90 spec car), now their in but i'm struggling to fit the brackets that the catch mechanism (on upper part) locks on to.

I bought the brackets with the seats but i'm starting to suspect the brackets are from an earlier model coz they really dont fit. Are the brackets different between 88 & 90 spec or am i being a bit thick??

Sorry to revive old thread. googled backrest carpet, followed link here. I just got my 90 spec mk4, left side backrest didnt latch at at all, only now finding out it was a piece of carpet covering the opening slightly, also the release knob is broken

the mk4 strikers are wider and bolted onto a slotted hole, 13mm acessible by the plastic cap surrounding it

update: my issue was the carpet being glued a little too far over, removed it and it latched. will soon be reatatched
