hi all had a couple of issues with my escort to day first one fairly straight forward flat battery managed to get it jump started, drove to where i work had no running issues drove perfect, fitted the new battery however while i was checking alternator output i noticed it seems to have developed a missfire when reved runs fine at idle and missfire does clear if you rev through it but hold it in the one spot and it misses like mad also started to get a strong smell of fuel from exhaust so checked the plugs and are very black havent driven it in this state as i didnt want to cause and extra damage other than change the plugs, would you say a decent set up would fix my issue and help or advice would be great engine is mfi other than a dump valve, k&n and exhaust its standard
