Default 1997 Ford maverick won't start

Has anyone ever had a problem with the 2.3 petrol maverick not starting? Problem is when u switch the ignition on normally then go to crank it just clicks and nothing happens, however if you turn the key very slowly in the ignition it will start, the aa said its the starter motor but I'm not convinced, has anyone else ever had this trouble? Possibly ignition switch fault? Any help greatly appreciated!

Either. Starters knackered. Battery is knackered or a bad earth. Check to see if the gearbox to body earth strap is ok

The fact it will crank suggests the battery and starter probably to be ok, as you say possibly a faulty ignition switch/bad connection or relay (If applicable)
