what gearbox will fit a 2003 ford focus 2.0ltr blacktop zetec
my mate is just trying to do it on cheap i have said just to chuck another ford focus gearbox in there

and do all ford focus st170 gearboxes have 6 gears as he has been told by previous owner that its a st170 gearbox in it but his only has 5 gears

All st170's are 6 speed, they are a getrac box too, pretty bomb proof.

MTX75 is what the 2.0 has I beleive, the rest are IB5.

Diesel focus runs a mtx75 too.

 

would a mtx75 from a mondeo fit if it has a hydrallic clutch

Yes, it's exactly the same engine!

Both cars are hydraulic as well.

There are a few little differences like bolt patten on the rear mount and some gear towers are different but nothing you can't get over.

 

As above. The mondeo top gearbox mount bolt pattern is different too. It will fit but only with two out of three bolts holding it in.

The gear selector has to be swapped over as well, straight forward enough on these.

And as above, the lower torque link mounts are different. But can be modified to fit.

 

ok thanks guys for all the info i have another question is the gear box in the 1.8 focus the same as 2.0ltr focus or would one of them fit

 

No, 1.8 (Excluding Derv) is IB5, and I should think the bell housing etc is different.

The 1.8 gearbox is ib5 but will bolt up fine

Just use the correct box for the vehicle

 

hi got gearbox out only codes i have found is xs4r7f096 and n5lua

have you managed to sort this out as i have a 2L black top and im looking for an mtx75 gear box . all the ones ive found are n5lua
and im need to be clear that its the same befor buying a gearbox
