Good Evening

I have recently bought a mark 3 escort 1.6 ghia, nostalgia bit me!

However, after my stoooopid son fiddled with the sunroof I now seem to have developed a leak and windrush noise, I cant get it to 'close' properly as the winder mech seem to be broken and just goes round and round doing nothing

So, if I cant open the sunroof how can I repair it? Is this a garage job....

you can gain access to the sunroof mech on these the cables used to stretch or strip teeth or even snap, my advice is get yourself a haynes book and look at the picture as it will all become obvious whats needed, as it would take a month of sundays to explain on here

Thank you for your reply, I have ordered a manual . Have taken the assembly apart as much as I can and it seems that the mechanism has come adrift hence why the cable snapped, so one side is up and the other is down. further problem is the screws that hold the glass in wont come out as one appears to have been cross threaded and the other has been over tightened hence the head is now not usable. very annoying. Any pointers on where would be a good place to look for second hand parts for these cars would be much appreciated

 

look on ebay or if scrapyard may have one? i think mk4 is the same, as for screws like most thing ford, you will find one that will fit from some where on your car.drill the head out, to get glass out then you can remove sunroof i done one years ago but mk3 were as common as mud then scrappys full of them
