Default Mk5 Fiesta boot stuck shut

Hi,

Yesterday I closed my boot as normal and when I went back to open it with the key again the key just turned but nothing happened.

I crawled through from the car and used a screwdriver to pop the catch from the inside. I can open the boot this way but the key just still turns in the lock.

Before I go taking it apart (won't have time until at least thursday due to work) is there anything obvious that it could be? Judging by the position of the key hole on the tailgate compared to the actual latch, I'm guessing there must be some sort of linkage between the two, could it be this?

PS - it's got central locking but AFAIK the boot must be opened by key, there's no boot popper button in the cabin.

Thank you and Merry Christmas

normally even if the latch is disconnected from the lock it will still only turn 45d but do sod all if its spinning 360 either the lock is goosed or all the connections have come off the rear, simply pop off the plastic boot trim and it should be clear as day whats going on

Hi cheers for the reply, it always was a 90 degree turn to open (12 to 3 o'clock if that makes sense) and still does only turn the same amount, it doesn't spin luckily.
