Hi , I've got a 1987 escort eclipse 1.3 ohv Valencia , it runs and drives fine , but when it's stood still in neutral and you rev the engine hard right up to the limit the engine vibrates and there is a rumbling noise and the gerstick vibrates like hell , only at the red line point up until then the engie sounds fine ... Out on the road it's fine until you really rev it when you go up hill it starts to kangaroo a bit ... Its got fairly new plugs and ht leads , done 34,000 miles , any ideas?? ... Sounds like the start of something bad !! Thanks ... Roy

 

Hi , I,ve been investigating a bit , and I have just removed the engine mount to see if that was the problem , I,m an engine mount virgin but it was fairly easy ... The mount looks spot on all the casing is solid and the rubber middle looks and feels like new , the only other mounts on the gearbox are solid tight ... So there out of the question ..... Must be internal engine or gearbox problem ????? Aaarrrggghhhh. Roy
