Escort mk5 Hot Starting Problems
Hi All at Passionford, i need to pick your brains on this one. My Escort is running a 1.6 CVH Carb engine & i'm having some hot starting issues like after when the cooling fan has come on & the old girl refuses to start for about 5 mins until she's cooled down a bit.
When i try start after the fan has cut in & gone off, all i get is a slight 'click' when i slightly turn the key backwards in the ignition barrel. Now i did used to have exhaust wrap on my downpipe but after changing that i haven't put new wrap back on although this problem didn't happen straight away after that.
Starter motor was changed around 2/3 years ago & works fine from cold starts & even moderate temperatures, but if the fan has kicked in then its almost guaranteed she wont even turn over.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, cheers - Dean
