Focus Mk2 front fogs upgrade
My 07 reg Focus LX does not have front fogs as standard. I've fitted a pair of front foglights (tested that they work off the car) and replaced the light switch with one which has two "pulls" for front and rear fogs. The wiring loom was already in the car for the front fogs (green/white and black wires). But the front foglights will not work. The rear fog still works on the second "pull" of the switch, as it should. As I understand it, there is a common 20A fuse and relay which works both the front and rear fogs. Any suggestions as to why my front fogs will not work? Is it possible that the GEM module needs to be reprogrammed? I've read other posts which imply that you just need to fit the lights, change the switch and everything should work! Any help will be appreciated. Ian.
Found that my car's lighting switch wiring loom does not have a front foglight wire. To fix the problem I've had to run a new wire from lighting switch terminal 83b through the bulkhead rubber grommet to energise a 20amp relay which operates the front foglights. The relay is connected to the battery via a 20amp fuse. and hard wired to the foglights.
