MK3 Cortina based Falcon Rev Counter Problems
I fitted an accuspark electronic ignition set to my 1973 2.0 Cortina pinto engine (new accuspark dizzy, coil, leads). Now my rev counter is dead. Not a flicker. Now in all the excitement of fitting the new parts I did not keep a note of what original wires went where
Now the car is running OK but no rev counter. Their are three wires going to the + side of the coil, all showing 12v when the ignition is on. One other lead of course goes to the dizzy from the - on the coil. Now one of the leads (the green one I reckon) on the + is the feed for the tacho and should go to the - side of the coil so the firing signal goes to the rev counter. My problem is that the said green wire is pushing out 12v! so if it is connected to the - terminal on the coil the engine dies, I guess because the 12v feed disrupts the signal to the dizzy.
Any one any ideas?
Cheers,
Chris
