hi folks.......
having my silvertop refreshed at the moment and seems the standard crank has been a weak point ( has forged rods/pistons ).....as its had some headwork i'm loathe to ditch the engine, but the crank does need replacing.
looking at the prices for steel aftermarket cranks makes for a deep breath!
wondering if the crank out of an st170 would fit ( simply ) into the silvertop? and in reality if it does is it a good swap out - ie/ how strong is it, what sort of revs is it 'happy' with? ( car is dry sumped and limit set at 8100 )....
if that's a daft idea.....recommends for other steel crank suppliers ( aside from teh norm burtons etc)...
cheers.

many thanks...appreciate that they can tolerate power, but what about revs? anyone got experience of what an st170 or indeed a standard silvertop crank is good for ( given its dry sumped/elec water pump etc)......
