Hello can someone help me my 1990 escort rs t wont idol.I have ajusted the idol screw in and out and makes no difference so i changed the whole throtlebody and tps and still cuts out she is driving fine its just when you stop a junction she will cut out ,well just when you take you foot of the throttle,it's driving me crazzy She is running ritch just now and i do have her booked in for a tune and rolling road but have to wait 2 weeks as the tuner is fully booked. Has anyone had this problem before? or no what it could be ? Hear is what has been done to the engine dont no if this would help.

May as well wait till it gets setup.

An air leak (Loose dipstick is common) will cause this issue along with others, especially on a MFI setup.

Thanks guys will have a look tomorow i did not no that just the dip stick could stop her from idoling i will just have to go over everything tomorow,My plan was just to wait till she gets tuned by (ricky gauld) but the misses now need to drive my car just now and she cant drive with it stalling at every junction or as soon as you lift of the throttle haha

 

rocker cover gasket, breather problem, dipstick, oil filler not sealing/seated properly ect ect. does the car idle rough from cold or just when up to temp?

 

When i start her in the morning she will idle fine for about 30 seconds to a minet then stalls ,the revs fall right down but if i keep my foot on the throttle say at 1100 she is fine, The car had been just fully restored and i am finding small problems all the time clips missing,slack jubalyclips,fuel pump wires slack,cold start sensors plugs rong way round etc but i have got to the back of most things it,s just the idle problem now and will prob defo be an air leak as a lot of pipes where unsecure.

 

Air ;eaks play hell with a mfi as the rely on vacum

 

mine was due to dump valve once i took it off it run fine also try adjusting your dizzy slightly once the engine warm to see if that will help
