Default 1991 escort eclipse + rs turbo motor? Thanks

Hi Ive just bought a 1991 escort eclipse with the 1.3 petrol motor..
Can anyone advise if its possible to fit a complete rs turbo engine and g/box to this model? I guess the motor and g/box will bolt straight in with them looking the same shape? Has anyone on hear done this swap? I appriciate any advise.. Thanks.. Ive always wanted a rs turbo but never could find one with a good shell.

Yes, a good mod or, as it is a 1.3 with EDIS then you could go Zetec with carbs

I was in the same boat as you a couple of years back mate, wanted turbo power but was advised by just about every tuning company i rang to avoid as it would be a total minefield due to the age of the engine and box.

You might get lucky and land a rebuilt example but a Zetec would be a far more reliable and efficient conversion.

Your best bet would be to get an escort turbo aswell maybe a crash a damaged one or one with a rotten shell, as you'll need engine box full loom from the car, fuel tank, pump brakes, basically everything.. Good look Matie, you should start a resto thread once you get started..

Sounds like you have a plan, just keep in mind that the money you spend on your Eclipse you will never get back. Money spent on purchasing an RS Turbo, you will get most if not all of it back.

Not saying don't do it, as a standard looking Escort Eclipse with an RS Turbo engine will be a right giggle, but if you really want an RS Turbo then you may not be happy until you have an RS Turbo

Hi.. i am struggleing already ! I bought the motor and g/box and a complete mfi loom.. It looks like it would be easyer to buy a crashed rs turbo cause there is lots of parts missing..
Can anyone tell me if the drive shafts off a eclipse are the same as a rs?
also are the fuel tanks the same?
Could i use the eclipse gearbox to save splitting the drive shafts?
Thanks for any advice.. At this rate i should be a alcoholic with a running car buy 2020
