side / tail / dash lights not working. please help a newbie out
Hi all i found this on hear but its pretty old now so thought i would start my own thread asking for help.
Im a mechanic almost finished my level 3 nvq so still learning a lil but the problem i have has got me stumped as im not very confident when it comes to wiring. my 2002 ford focus has a lighting issue, the side tail and dash lights dont work. Iv tried all fuses and there all fine i swapped the switch with a friends and agian still no lights so then i tried to run my own wire from switch to fuse box as recomended from the above quote but the problem i have is on doing this i have all none working lights now working but they wont switch off. If some one could give me any advice on how to tckle this issue i would really appriciat it
thanks in advanced

Try feed across the fuse so you know if it before or after switch / fuse , the order is
1 battery
2 Ignition Switch
3 Light switch
4 Fuses
5 Bulbs
So by checking feed into fuse you know if the wiring is faulty between switch and fuse and as it is a single wire up to fuse this would seem to be your favorite , I have been known to simply join a length of wire between the 2 known good points ie cutting wire away from switch and into fuse and see if that sorts it
