only make sure that the rear diff runs an appropriate ratio for the front diff.

you also need to modify the floorpan to take the transfer box

if your sorted with the front end stuff just get the rear diff from the same car. the 2wd runs 3.9 and the 4wd runs 3.6. otherwise you'll need a chain step off that goes in the transfer box.

This is not true mate, the 2wd cossie runs the same ratio diff 3.64 as the 4x4 rear diff which is also 3.64! the only difference is the sizes the 2 wd diff is 7.5" and the 4x4 is 7"!!

Using the 2 wd rear diff would be best as it is just that wee bit stronger!

You will have to use the prop shaft forward of the 4 x 4 as they are compatible!

i would recomend converting to vented rear brake set-up like on a 4x4 as you won't have the engine braking the rear wheels only, so they wil get that bit hotter

abdr500,

this pic shows the 2wd gearbox x-member as fitted to a 4x4 floorpan. where the x-member should bolt to the floor there is a space for the transfer box

to make it fit, bolt a length of 50mm box section onto the one mounting place that extends forward to make a mounting place for the x-member.

i bolted it up using the original mounting bolts but the nuts are a bit fiddly to get to inside the box section. it was so long ago now though that i can't remember what i did exactly. i think i cut the box at an angle at that end.
