Escort 55D Being a mental
(Posted this originally in wrong forum on here, mods please delete, and dont like iunno..Beat me with conrods or something)
Hi all
Seen this forum before and read advice on it for basics, now i need some help lol
Basiclly Escort 55D Van is being a git on starting i.e wont start without alot of swearing, threatening with a stick and key wiggling, Sometimes the immobliser light turns off completely on starting, then decides to blink like a madman, whilst driven earlier the light also went on a blinking spree then slowed down?
Got it going earlier by holding the key in start, all the dials went mad (Speedo shot up to 140, fuel gage went right up, and the temp gage, the digital mileometer read all zeros, then went back to the 160K, and the clock went on the mental one)
Sprayed it with ignition cleaner, solved it for all of half an hour, then right back to square one.
Checked all fuses and connections that i can see..Doesn't seem to be anything wrong.
Also the radio randomly switches itself on and displays the numberplate on the screen.
And, the heater refuses to give out any heat (Had brief periods of warmish air, then the temp gage has said overheating, but it doesent seem to be, It also has a strange rattle when idle (cured by tapping the accel)
Ideas?
(And dont say 'Scrap It' either lol)
Cheers!

Update:
Tried firing earlier..It made a sort of NERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRFFFFFFFFF noise, all the dials shot up..Then totally died.
Before the death, knocked the indicator, this made the radio come on..Flashed up the numberplate, then asked for the code? :S (Dont know why)
Now nothing works, lights down, horn not working, no dash lights..Wont turn over.
However on putting key into start position the radio lights up.
Is this totally fucked or is there a (cheapish) way to fix it?

Update 2! :
Have gone through the engine, cleaned all earth points (The screws where things are held in)
Got to the main fusebox (By the battery), saw the mountings were corroded on the fusebox, cleaned it off with WD40, bit of sandpaper.
All alive and working well.
