Default erst timing query

ok guys hoping someone may know whats wrong here......

basically my engine was running with the dizzy way too far advanced and it was suggested that my cam timing was out hence the reason for the dizzy being too far advanced.

so i paid to have this checked, the cam was found to be 10 degrees out so was put right and it made a huge huge difference, was unbelievable but the dizzy still seems to be wound too far round. infact the car has been driven to donny show today and the guy driving it said that the dizzy couldnt be advanced anymore than it currently is.

i dont get it cos the dizzy is still in the same place as it was b4 the cam timming was adjusted. i dont know or understand y??? the cam had been checked with tdc so therefore advanced 10 degrees, well as it was that far retarded i would assume that its been advanced 10 degrees to make it correct? im told tdc is correct now anyway

so can someone please shed some light as to what could possibly be the problem. as ive said it feels much much better to me but the guy driving it said it still isnt correct u dont really feel any power from the turbo until it gets to bout 15psi and u should feel it as soon as it starts boosting?

this is the first turbo car i have owned, i just assumed that was the turbo lag?

please please can someone help i just wana make it right and get a good time!!

HI,

Do you have a std cam pulley, or adjustable type vernier,
and are you sure its a turbo head and cam on the engine
as the turbo used a 1.3 cam pulley to retard the valve timing,
the head rs is the same as xr3i,reworked.exhaust valves different.
Have you checked the ignition timing with a timing light you should
be able to set it spot, and if not check valve timing, when you check
the ignition timing with a light is it advacing as u rev engine with ecu
pipe connected

HI,

Did you buy the cam as it would say for the cam what the cam timing should be
cam timing is different to valve timing, get a opinion of the cam company
its from, and have you tried timing just the std valve timing at tdc marks
on crank and cam pulley using std ford cam pulley , and then set ignition
timing, or get someone else to check it out.when u checked the ignition timing are the timing marks lining up or to far retarded still with the dizzy
turned as far as u can move it.

valve timing is the same as the cam timing. What chip are u running, as this effects it massivly. My dizzy was fully twisted - it was 20degrees BTDC at idle - correct for my setup. They are 12 as std.

er not too sure of the chip now mate but guessing its a superchip as the guys a superchip dealer who fitted it

my old chip was superchip but something went wrong with it so had to get new one!

my spec is ported polished head, kent cvh31 cam, vernier pulley, md28 hybrid turbo, mahle low comp pistons 7:1 ratio, knife edge crank, fully lightened and balanced bottom end,got all bailey swirl pots etc, pace charge cooler fed by huge bumper mounted pre rad, sachs race clutch.

is this anything like ur setup? just trying to get to the bottom of it, ive been told its not meant to be like that with the dizzy so far advanced?!?!?!
