Recently the cam belt snapped on my mum n dads escort td estate. I swaped the head and fitted a new belt.

when i first started it, it was smoking loads and running lumpy as hell. But after a blast all that cleared.

The problems is when it comes on boost it whistles really loud. Tried looking for a leak on the turbo inlet pipe and it was fine. Then i tried the clamp between the egr valve and inlet. when i took the clamp off and pushed the egr back a bit then reved it the whistle went. But still cant understand whats causing.

Is it actually making any positive pressure, does it have a boost gauge?

Did it bend / snap any valves when the belt went? Fragments could have made their way into the turbo exhaust housing and damaged the turbo?

It bent 2 valves when it went, it was actually parked in the workshop so didn't have to go far to start ripping it to bits.

not sure if its making pressure or not. Its mum n dads run around so no boost gauge.

took the turbo and exhaust manifold off today and noticed that the actuaror arm was really stiff, so iv freed that off

Could it be a leak on the inlet manifold?

It sounds like a boost leak.

Check all the pipework.
