Hi all,

I've recently became interested in a little 53 plate focus. It's a minter, but there's a little issue; it has a one area of rust.



Now is it just a case of wire wheeling the affected area back, then treating, spraying with rust proof primer before respraying in OEM colours and lacquering?

Is there a chance of the rust being under the roof rails and what sort of price am I looking at for a repair?

your pretty lucky in that this is in a recess so not on show if you get my meaning.

You really need to try and get that roof rail out of the way to make sure all is good. Then yes, as you said sounds fine. I am only no expert but it is what I would do but would be careful to mask up well and keep the area being sprayed inside the recess and not out onto the panel.

 

If you want to be 100% sure rip out the headlining and treat from both side, but awkward place to repair without access to both sides

 

as above remove rail its not that bad my next door nebs focus is fottern all over

 

Typical ford, hardly any age to it yet rotting already.
