Unhappy Focus TDCI problems

Hi everyone

I had replaced my shapphire cosworth for a Focus TDCI due to doing a lot more miles for work and its just decided to break down on me, I was driving home from work this morning and the car just cut out, tried to restart but, will just crank but note fire, my glow plug light goes out when you turn on ignition but, starts to flash when you try to start the car, there is also a buzzing type noise (bit like the old head light work light on my cosworth funnily enough) coming for the fuel regulator, its all very strange... i have plugged it into diagnostic but, theres no fault code listed even thou managment light has come on too....

anyone else had a similar problem? if so, what do i have to do to get the car going again???

Many thanks for reading

What code reader you using fella? If the eml is on then theres a fault stored somewhere.

The glow plug light flashing is normally the glow plug relay if i mind right, but that wont always stop it from starting.

The more i thibk about it im sure we had a mondeo tdci in wigh the same problem, and it turned out to be the crank sensor. With these tdci's this is a can of of worms, albeit very common. It could be anything from the pedal, to fuel pump (including timing, injectors or fuel filter), possibly even cam sensor.

Good luck fella.

Glow plug light, is actualy engine failure lightb when it flash. You don`t have any fuel regulator on a diesel engine, so i don`t now what you mean. It have been issues whit water in glow plug relay plug, who makes problem like this

sorry for the delay in reply i've been very ill.....
I replaced the cam sensor and the car will start now although it takes a lot of effort to get going, the car basically cranks for age then fires up with a large amount of smoke, grey smoke. Ive replaced the battery, old one tested as faulty, replaced the starter motor, glow plugs, fuel filter, air filter and air flow meter as all were well used! the car is still very hesitant in reving too.........

does anyone know where i can get the injectors tested as i'm reluctant to spend too much more money on the car but, now i fear i've gone that far i might as well go that bit further too....

cheers

I was speaking to someone yesterday that said that being the 1.8 tdci I shouldn't have to have the injectors coded for my car, will have to do some more research on them I think
