charging problem ?
hi all having a bit of trouble, charge light was coming on now and again over bumps i think, put a new alternator on, somtimes the charge light does not come on at all even with just ignition on and then it comes on when you go along and then goes off, the AA man said there was no charge at all, so put the new alternator on, has any one had this problem or similar, perhaps there is some one who could point me in the right direction to solve this problem. cheers for looking. frankie. ps s2 turbo

Then his replaced something that was never broke!
The problem is almost certainly due to the "Thin blue" wire on the alternator has most likely been cooked! This is a critical part of the charging circuit and is the earth for the bulb light. Very common problem on these Fast Fords, thanks to the heat generated from the turbo!
Without this, you will have no charge unless you rev to around 3K+.
