Default Radiator fans

Hi all
I've just noticed that the radiator fans on my newly acquired J plate 2.0 DOHC estate run all the time that the ignition is switched on & with the cold mornings coming that's obviously not ideal !
I thought it was probably the fan switch , so i changed that , no difference.

So is there a relay for the fans that might be faulty ? I've tried the Haynes manual but couldn't find a description of which relay does what......

Any other suggestions what it could be ?

The relay is in the fuse box, it is a 'stubby' yellow square one, before doing this unplug the connector from the switch, if the fans stop the switch is faulty, if they carry on then the relay is jammed. (Assuming nobody has fiddled with the wiring etc)

Cheers Martin
I will give that a try , I've already tried unplugging the switch & it made no difference , so i guessed it must be the relay , but had no idea which one it was ! lol

There is only one yellow relay in the fuse box & that's a tall one , pulled that out , fans carried on running. Removed relays one by one until the fans stopped & found a black one right at the back that stopped them. Replaced that , fans still running continuously ........ Back to the drawing board ! lol

check to see the fuse hasn't melted in the fuse box (common fault) that the wiring has given up and fussed together causing fans to run all the time!

That isn't the relay, thats to create the delay for the interior light(s)!

I believe on the facelift models there was some relays moved behind the glovebox (So I heard on here recently) so check here for one and try pulling that one.

The fuse melting isn't really an issue on other models, it was merely a design problem or rather lack of it, thats causes the Cosworth's problems, one reason is due to the huge span of the switch!
