New maniverter new problems
Hello all,
Ive just registered as my girlfriends car keeps having a fit and breaking, so I keep having the fun of fixing it.
I have just swapped out the maniverter for a new approved one and now have a few issues.
Engine management light - should I remove the lambda sensors and clean them? or is it just because the cat needs breaking in?
She says it sounds different, is this to be expected? the maniverters were not of the same pattern so would that make the car sound different?
anything else I should look out for?
any help would be appreciated?

Cat's do NOT need breaking in. It's more the opposite - if the original problem that damaged the previous cat still exists, this one will be damaged very shortly too.
Get the fault codes read ASAP and post them.
What vehicle are we talking about? Make, model, year, engine, etc.
Did you use original parts or aftermarket ones?

Never heard it called a maniverter before! Try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes, that will clear the fault codes from the ecu and put the light out. If the light comes back on then get the fault code read and go from there.
the original problem was the flange connecting to the flexi part of the exhaust rusting to pieces and coming apart.
Its a ford fiesta flight 1.3 early 2002 endura engine.
There were no warning lights previous to the swap. I was careful with the sensors and swapping them to make sure they were not knocked or dropped etc
It was an aftermarket part, comes with a 3 year guarantee. Gaskets were replaced as were the bolts.

If there were no warning lights before the repair, my guess is that the ecu thinks the catalyst is not working.
Or you forgot to connect something. A code read will confirm or deny that.
When did the light go on? Immediately after the repair? Or did it come on after a several hundred miles?
