Ka wont start - Any suggestions?
I have having problems starting my Ford Ka.
It has a Focus 1.8 engine in it. I think it has something to do with PATS. It started once with the Focus ECU in it but will not start since.
I have the key and transponder from the Focus so I dont see how there would be a problem with the PATS system.
Any ideas?
Engine is cranking but will not fire up.

I am sure I can hear the fuelpump when the ignition is turned on.
Will go and check the light just now.
Did you mean, put the key in and just turn it 2 turns (dont try and start it) and check the light on the clock?
Or check the light at the same time as I am turning the key?

Just check the car.
When the keys are turned 2 turns the light flashes more rapidly.
And goes a solid red light when the other key (Focus key) is not inserted.
The fuel pump is working and there is a spark also.
So does that mean it is most certainly the PATS system that is preventing it?
Because as I was aware the PATS system stops the spark and fuel.
Any other suggestions as this is doing my fucking nut in !!!!
Please help.

It should go solid red when ignition is on, then go out a few seconds later. If it flashes fast then it's detected a problem.
Hold both keys together and start it with whatever one turns in the barrel. That was it should pick up the pats signal from good key yet it will start with the other. If that works then just tape up the other key inside the plastic cowling to permanently de-activate the pats for now.

Tried that.
I just turns over but still doesn't start (just started the once).
I am getting a spark, fuel and the starter is turning.
What else could possibly be wrong?

Doesn't sound like a pats fault if you're getting fuel and spark, and it's turning over. That's normally a winning combination!! Lol.
When it started the once, did you turn it off or did it cut out? Was it running correctly?

I turned it off after a few seconds because there was no water in it. It was just a quick test fire to see if it would work.
If my postman hurries up I should have all the plumbing work finished today so will be almost complete (excluding exhaust).
I will try again today and let you know how I get on.
