Default Mk4 Master Cylinder help :(

Having some issues with the master cylinder.

I noticed a few weeks ago my pedal started to feel soft, if i rested my foot on the brake pedal it'd slowly drop to the floor, but if i pressed it hard it'd stay hard until i let go.

I assumed this was due to the seals being old and being a little slack. I checked every couple days on the ramp and all the joins/calipers/wheel cylinders are clean and dry. I think it started doing it after i fitted the new discs and pads, so possibly some dirt pushed back past a seal.

BiggRed sent me a seal kit for the Bendix 23.8mm cylinder which is what my 3i has fitted. Non ABS. But only two of the seals are correct and the rest look like they're completely different.

After stripping the cylinder, the seals arent torn or damaged, but it was a little grubby and the skirts looked smaller than the ones in the kit i assume because the rubber has shrunk.

No one seems to be able to get bits for these cylinders anymore. What other options are there without spending £50+ on a new cylinder??

I dont want to be cutting and welding bits in the bay as its nicely original in all the right places.

Evening bump.

And top tip, don't clean the innards of a master cylinder in petrol then slide it back together to remind you how it was the next day; the seals swell up and become impossible to remove from the cylinder
