Default New Clutch Not Norking

Hello all I have a problem with the clutch in my P100 pick up
right to start with I have changed the engine from a 1.8td to a 2.0 pinto I have used evertything from the donor pick up including engine box etc...
While engine was out I thought it would be a good idea to change the clutch.
so thats what I did it is all back together but now when I push the clutch pedal in there dosent seem to be much there.(engine off) and when the engine is running and I push the clutch in I get a nasty noise. and still cant get any gears. if I press the clutch pedal in and theN try to start engine it jolts forward like it would if the clucth wasnt pressed.

So my question is does anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong before I take the gearbox out again??

I have allready changed the clutch cable for a shorter one but still no joy!!! anY help would be great

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

you got the clutch plate in the correct way and not back too front? ie the pressure springs face the rear of the car not the front

pull the clutch pedal upwards and then pump it down then up as far as it goes repeatidly and you will feel it stiffen this resets the thrust bearing or could possibly be because the diesel gearbox has an extra tooth on the spicket shaft or is it one less
