Zetec cambelt tensioner query
I have just changed the cambelt and tensioner on my 2000 Focus 2.0 zetec.
After fitting the new belt I adjusted the tensioner so that the pointer was in the correct position. I then rotated the engine five or six times and then readjusted the tensioner as the pointer was slightly out before finally torquing the tensioner bolt as specified in the haynes manual.
The car has now been running round for a few days and I have noticed that the tensioner pointer is no longer pointing at the mark but has moved round so is now pointing far below the mark (as though the belt has been tensioned up more).
I did notice prior to taking off the original belt that the old tensioner was pointing in the same position as the new one is now.
Is this normal or should I slacken off the tensioner and readjust the tension again?
