Default Focus air vent problem

First of all , hello from a nottingham focus owner and apologies that my first post is a question but i've only just found this forum as a direct result of googling a problem I have with my car.

The car in question is a 2005 focuc 1.6 tdci estate and up until recently has been ok, I now have a problem with the air blower.

the aircon works fine and the fan works fine in all positions, the problem is the air flow decreases to almost nothing when the fans been on for a while, its almost like theres an intermittent blockage from where the air intake is (dont know where that is)

its been rather uncomfortable lately cos i put the aircon on and the air flow out the vents is minimal, this occurs in any position i.e when its on blow to windscreen, blowing at dash vents or to feet

I did wonder if there some form of solenoid operated butterfly valve or similar that may be closing when it shouldn't ??

any ideas would be gratefully received

Thanks in advance
