Default escort mk3 gearbox oil????

hi wondered if anyone could help.
my partner is just starting to put back a mk3 escort ghia that he has been restoring and has rebuilt the engine with uprating everything including the clutch kit. the engine and gearbox is going in tomorrow.
he wants to know what the best gearbox oil would be to put in, as he has uprated everything.
can anyone give me some makes
thanks

Hi, the best oil would be a fully synthetic 75w-90 gear oil, which would also give a smooth gear change,a lot beter than using a EP90 gear oil.
If the car is going to be a show car and not going to get any hard use he could always use a cheap 20/50 engine oil

Mobil 1 SHC Synthetic Gear Oil is said to be one of the best, but not cheap,i used to use vauxhall fully synthetic oil (only cos i worked there,so was very cheap ) in my mk3,made it feel like a new box

DON'T use engine oil in a gearbox, it offers little shear protection, a multigrade gear oil like 75/90 will be better more so when cold than a straight 90 grade.
