Hi all, my Ford 6000 CD radio's CD player is kaput, when i've been on ebay for a replacement a couple of sellers have said " check radio part no and car chassis no" to make sure it fits your car, is this correct ?.
I phoned my ford dealer and the guy in service said the 6000 CD fits all mk1 focus' .
Could any of you people give me some info, my car is an 03 1.8LX Focus.

 

But you can't mix and match all 6000RDS radios. For example a 6000 from a same age Mondeo does not fit the same age Focus as the connectors and the wheel remote are different.

 

The radio that was in my Focus was a 6000CD out of an X reg MK2 Mondeo and went straight in?

 

I don't know but at a guess I would have thought they were generic, surely the wheel controls are optional and just connect in the back? I would have though the power connector, speakers etc were generic?

Well i bought a set of radio removal keys, took the unit out and went to the local breaker, he showed me a focus unit with different wiring connections to mine ( presumably to do with the steering column controls ) before finally pulling one out of an older shape mondeo that was exactly what i needed.
So you do need to be careful about exactly what you buy on ebay because some of the descriptions are quite vague .
