hey up fellas need some pointer,got a 2001 escort 55 van 1.8 endura engine,non turbo kicking black smoke out most of the time worse under load,got a new air filter in it so not that, whats my next stepsto cure it

try the cheap options fuel filter first
worst case could be your pump or engine internals

what pump does it have on it? is it drive by wire or does it have a throttle cable? Wont be fuel filter, this will cause the opposite of black smoke

Must say it runs sweet apart from smoke no nasty noises,ok on fuel dont use no oil or water,

yes, but you need to determine why min, does it have a throttle cable to the pump?

From what i can see it dose yes if its the right thing i,m looking at it has a cable stop on the end this i have just seen is loose on the cable end and there fore not ajusted may be,but just clutching at straws

worked the throttle and it pulls a lever under the bonnet is this on the pump housing, are we in the right area now sorry for my late responce

yeah mate, if its a bosch pump you will be able to screw the max fueling down and have a cleaner drive. Not sure why its changed though
