Default New RS Turbo Owner - 1.6 CVH In XR3i - Some help req please!

Hi Guys/Girls,

My sister has just purchased an XR3i Cabriolet, which has at some point in its life been converted to a RS Turbo, in particular a 1.6 CVH.

The spec is below

CENTRAL LOCKING ALARM ON FOB WITH REMOTE AND REMOTE START. (REMOTE START NOT WIRED IN) AFTERMARKET SEPERATE IMMOBILISER
FULL 90 SPEC RECARO INTERIOR IN GOOD CONDITION.
COSSIE BRAKES.
T3 COSSIE TURBO.
PACE FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER.
UPRATED STAINLESS STRAIGHT THROUGH EXHAUST.
BAILEYS DUMP VALVE.
PULLS LIKE A TRAIN THE TORQUE STEER IS UNREAL!

The car is pictured here

And the engine bay

I have a few gripes with the car, as the wiring is not ideal, there are many pikey'd wires, things disconnected, wires hanging down etc. I will detail these below with pictures and ask if anyone can point me out as to where they go.

The car starts fine, but when up to temperature bogs down and dies, usually with a small amount of blue smoke. It will start again in 5 minutes and the car is drivable again for another short distance. I have noticed that the (what i believe to be the fuel pressure regulator) has a vac pipe disconnected, which wouldnt do any good for fuelling on boost!

Any ideas where this vac should be connected to?

There is a circular thing on gearbox, inlet n outlet and.two leccy connections (black n brown w, green stripe). The hose connections arent fitted. - any ideas what this is? and should it be connected?

do these engines have electronic ecus? just wondering if it needs mapping?

or is it a case of ensuring the timing is set correctly, all vac lines are connected, and the air to fuel ratio is setup properly on the fuel distributor by using a gas analyser?

Where is the best place to get a new radiator, as the current one has been pressing against the turbo, and has now sprung a leak

The radiator fan (slimline) is also, always on with the ignition switch, is there a radiator temperature switch on the fords, like vws, which switches on the fan, when the radiator is up to temperature?

All other pictures of the cars wiring, and engine bay can be seen in the following link

Sorry for having to mither you all with questions, it is my sisters car, and I am a VW enthusiast. I am not a stranger to forced induction cars, as I own three Polo G40s, however I feel out of my depth with the wee Ford and its my sisters birthday on the 21st May so I would be stoked if I could get it running well for her.

The car is based near Northampton, and if there are any local RS Turbo experts, we would appreciate any of your time, or even if you know of any garages that specialise in them, we can take the car down there for a setup.

Many Thanks

Yousaf

i dont think there is supposed to be a pipe on the fuel reg mate also the thing on the gearbox is an amal valve which must of been bypassed for some reason possibly a bleed valve fitted.
best place to take it would probably be jamsport in northampton mate

cheers

Thanks for the reply Mick,

Just stripped off the front end, as the intercooler and radiator werent actually held onto the bodywork, just held in place by the pipework.

Noticed that the bottom intercooler pipe was half held on by the jubilee clip, so there would have been a boost leak there which wouldnt have helped!

Radiators off now too, so Ill find a better way of mounting them both, ensuring that the rad has sufficient clearance from the turbo, to avoid it rubbing and leaking in future.

Once i've got a new radiator purchased and fitted, ill get my sister to take it down to see them and get someone to give it a look over! Thanks.

Also wheres best to pickup a new fuel pump, radiator and front ns indicator lense?

Thanks
