help on zetec timing

Default help on zetec timing

hi

went to change the cam belt on a 1.6 zetec focus had it locked off when the tensioner snapped and moved the cams can any one help me as there are no timing marks at all

if i remember right you take the cam cover off and at the back off the cams you can lock them off in the correct place with a flat bar or spanner

Floating pulleys, so u slack all the pulleys of, use the timing pins and tension the belt

On the other end of the cams you'll find a 6mm slot cut into each cam, it is offset as well, so when a 6mm rod, or locking bar is placed across the head top surface and into the cams they are correct, use the correct locking pin for the crank web, most don't undo the cams when doing these, I always do personally, makes sure it is correct in case it wasn't prior to doing the belt.
