Focus 2.0 Lambda Sensor connector won't line up.

Focus 2.0 Lambda Sensor connector won't line up.
Hoping someone can shed some light on this for me.
I bought a new lambda sensor for my 2001 Focus 2.0 Zetec. Part No. LB1303 from Fuel Parts UK.
I've double checked the part no. on a few website and it is correct.
Stupidly I already fitted the sensor without checking the the connector first!
Motor Factors is now shut until Tuesday and I fear I can't return it due it already being fitted!
The connection plug is nearly identical except for two locating lugs which are in the wrong place. I could easily trim them off to make it fit, but I'm worried if I do this I could do more damage if it is indeed somehow the wrong sensor!
Is this common or should I re-fit the old one and wait for an answer from the Motor Factors?
