2wd clutch question
i ve red that a lot of people with cossys with about 300 to 360 bhp change just the clutch with a six pudle ap for ex. and keep the ford cover plate.is this hybrid thing any good? thanks forders!
mine is currently only 300 and ive just had to change the clutch as the old one let go on the dyno, ive fitted an AP 6paddle with an AP heavy duty cover. no complaints here, the peddle is far lighter than the old knackered clutch, and its not too bad pulling away when you get used to it.
Just make sure you get your flywheel skimmed.

There are two different covers/diaphragms supplied by ford, one is good and ok for well over 400bhp, the other is only just adequate for std power, I can't remember which is which though.
This is a common clutch combo though.

well i was told that the ford clutch's made by borg and beck were good for decent power levels, but the borg and beck that came out of mine still looked fairly healthy, no oil contamination, plenty of meat left on the friction plate etc. and couldnt hold 300bhp/320lb/ft. Personally, i wouldnt bother trying to save money, buy the AP/helix/Alcon 6 paddle and heavy duty cover and forget about it.
