can u replace a L1 ecu for a diffrent type L6,L8 etc with out causing damage?

L1 can directly be replaced with a L6, BUT you will have to use a L6 chip also in the L6, ie the chip won't swap.
The L8 can be used, by using a 4wd tps and swapping the outer two wires on the tps around with each other, again a L8 chip will be needed for this.

cheers tabetha,i have blown a l1 ecu an needed replaced,ill start the hunt for a L6..

Just don't pay silly money, you can get a V4 ecu for £450 fitted and mapped brand new with new loom, so do some sums first, a mapped engine is massively better than a regular chip swap, and well worth the extra imo.
