Exclamation no temperature reading on dash or pod gauge! help

hi i have an escort with a 1.8 zetec engine ( not the original lump) and im not
getting any response from the temperature gauge on the dash or from the pod gauge.

the pod gauge has a wire running round to the front of the engine to a coolant pipe connected to a singe connection temp sensor,

i've took this out and cleaned it, no difference to the pod

next to this is a temp sensor with two wires. ( cut and re attached at some point)

i've tryed those wires around both ways an still no change on the dash?

any ideas people please!! help!!!

Now, not being funny, but, does it have coolant in it?

Other than that, you'll have to trace wires back, also does the aftermarket temp sender need an earth? As my oil temp one did

That is the fan switch where the wires have been cut, you could short that wire on the sender to earth, at which point the gauge should read the maximum if it does then the sender if faulty, if not then I suspect you have a faulty gauge or no power to it.

thanks mate, i wasnt to sure that that one was lol

good idea, think ill go try that now, if i get no response then its probably the gauge, still i dont know why the one on the dash isn't working

still thanks for the ideas

i attached a wire to the sender and the other end to ground and hey presto the gauge shot
up to max, looks like it is a dodgy sender then, thanks a mill...

just got the 3 to sort out now, oil pressure, oil temp, and voltage.

they all appear to be wired up but i'll have to find out if they are done properly and if so
how to check the oil temp and pressure senders.. is it the same way as the temp sender?
