Focus ST170 emissions.
My 04 Focus ST170 failed the MOT today on emissions.Anyone know how to get them down? I have put a one shot petrol mix through the tank and changed the air filter but they are still running high.
Fast Idle=0.06.Cheers in advance.

Get the car seriously Hot before the test, failing that you could try a new lambda sensor but sounds like new Cat time. Worth buying a sports cat as ford will want to charge you nearly £1000 for a new one. Dont buy the cheap ebay cats they have more cells than the standard one and will lose you power

Google Scorpion ST170 sports cat and it should come up, they are £380, failing that Pumaspeed are doing a Sports Cats again for £400 but the picture looks like the american cats from CFM which tend to fail emmision standards in this country. I know their last batch from the states had this problem.
is that 0.06 a CO reading at fast idle? if so, thats not a fail
should be less than 200ppm for HC, less then .3 for CO and .97 to 1.03 for lambda forr the bet test, then whatever the book has for the st170
usually the tester hasnt got the catalyst hot enough for the test is the most common fail

Dropped my st170 in for mot this morning. I drove it at high speed then i sat on the forcourt with engine running till fans kicked in and then gave the car to them. It passed its mot with flying colours after scraping through emmisions last mot. Well pleased.
