Default Speaker Cable help please!

Hello,

I'm tidying the wiring up on my Escos and have a few questions about Speaker wires that I'm looking for help/advice with please!
Currently one of the Amps in the boot is wired to the Front Door Speakers but the wires looks pretty cheap and crap, was thinking of upgrading them but I cant run them completly to the Door speakers because of the Multi plug connector.
Is it worth running new wires from amp and splicing into the original wire as close to the multi plug as I can, or will the original wires from speaker to the other side of the plug restrict any benefit I would get?
Any ideas whats best to do??

Also, a friend told me the speaker wires and remote wires shouldn't be run down the same side as the Amp/Sub power cable, is this true?

Any help would be great as I'm not to good on ICE!!

Thanks,
Dan

yes it is best to run the power cable away from speaker wires / rca leads etc... as the can pick up interference from the shielding of the power cable . cant you get rid of the multi plug and run the speaker cable directly on to the speaker terminals as the standard wiring will be thinner and let the sound quality down

The multi plug has all the power window and central locking etc wires in it and also is the water seal so I dont want to get rid of it. I could try replace as much of the wiring from speaker to plug in side the door as well...
Do you think I'll actually notice a big difference with the wires though?

ah just seen what car you got i dont know on a escort cossie but on a mk6 escort there is room to run the wires through the grommet and into the door. what connectors has it got on the plug. as for cable the likes of vibe or auto leads do decent cable at decent prices .just stay away from cheap ebay no name cable

Yeah the plug is all the male on one side and femal on the others then you screw the connectors together and it joins them and seals around the hole in the Body.
Dont really want to mess with that too much lol!

i would just replace what you can easily get to then with out cutting stuff up . so replace up to the plug and then possibly the other side if you wanted to as long as you keep the standard wiring to under about a 1 foot long the the current loss would be virtually unnoticeable
