Default st 170 clocks lights not working

have just bought my self an st170 and am really impressed with it but having problems with the clocks. the needle lights work fine but the back lit green does not always come on, this happens on both the clocks and the oil gauges aswell. have taken the clocks out and made sure all the connections are in properly and its all fine. they flicker as i am driving along and then when i stop turn the lights and car off they dont come back on again, have to bash on top of the dash to get them going again.

but what is confusing me is if it was a connection onto the back of the clocks which would make sense with bashing the top but why do the gauiges not work at exactly the same time, flicker exact;y the same time, going to buy another headlight switch tomorrow and see if that will make a difference but if not dont know where else to look. would think the switch is the first place the wires from the gauges and the clocks work together.

really hope this all makes sense. thanks Lee

Common as muck this one. New switch will fix it. If not the green dials are powered by the unit behind the oil gauges so look there next

Is the dimmer switch set to maximum? Turn it down a bit, as this will make them flicker.

yeah we did that and it stopped them flickering. thinking it might be slightly worn out or something which is why i am thinking a new switch will do it. thanks mate.
