Default Ring gap help

Hello, I am placing new pistons and Rings into my 2001 escort 2.0 single over head cam. I bought NPR rings and pistons. I decided to check the ring gap on the rings. The upper I am getting 0.08 inches to 0.09 inches and the lower is 0.27 inches. The book states 0.10 to 0.30 is ok. My question is the upper ring gap close enough to go with it? The motor is all standard parts. Thanksfor your help

I presume that's for one ring over all 4 cylinders.
Personally for the gaps that are a little too small I would file the ring CAREFULLY and slowly out to ensure good oil pressure and lubrication across all cylinders.

If the bore clearance is correct for the piston it will be fine at those figures.
