Default Focus St3 sensor problem

Good morning,

Can anybody help me..

I have a 2006 Focus ST3 that revs up and down on idle, this has since brought the esp light on and says esp system fault.

I have been told this is a common problem with the mass airflow sensor?

What I would like to know is can I clean them? Also where is it located and what does it look like?

New ones seem expensive??!!

Thanks in advance for your help..

I have heard you can clean them although I have never needed to on mine.

Mine revs high on idle then comes down but is very smooth, i think all STs do that.

Get on focusstoc.com they know a lot about things like this over there.
