Default Front mount alternator

Hiya guys i'm building a zt black top engine and its going in a mk5 fiesta but the rear alternator will not fit. So going to have to make it front mount can the bracket of a silver top be used? or is it a case of custom making one or buying the one from track-designs etc. cheers

pic of the silver top one i can get for a good price

Don't know about festa, but silver top in mondy etc is rear mounted alternator.
Do you defo need one for a track car ?, you don't have to use a mondy/zetec one, look at some jap ones with built in reg/rec, generally a lot smaller and lighter and easier to make brackets for and fit in smaller places.

The aux tensioner on the alternator bracket has about 50mm clearance behind it, and 25mm to the side next to the suspension turret, .. I will try and get ome photos for you at some stage over the next couple of days.

Im just in the painfull "drive around with a netbook" mapping stage. ha. Its getting there, making acceptable power. just need a rolling road ....

Yeh a blacktop from a focus. Had to use a silvertop rocker cover though because im using an efi inlet which doesnt clear the blacktop rocker cover. Using escort sump and oil pickup and windage tray so i had a tunnel to run the exhaust through.

Using a 1.3 endura ib5 box. There are a couple of boxes that are useable, my choice was due to the fact that it has the starter at the rear, meaning i have space for my eaton m45 supercharger at the front in place of the aircon pump.

Ive made the brakckets for the superC but not fitted yet due to the cost of pipework etc. Got all my water inj kit and stuff, but gonna get it running good as a 2.0 first.

Ill sort some photos for you to have a look at,

Matt

The lad that fitted my black top told me the 1.3 endura box wouldn't fit and that I'd have to swap to a diesel box?

Am gutted now that I may have been had.

Also, how did you get the focus alternator to work, do you have the focus loom. I got told that the Focus 2.0 alternator has no charging regulator so I should swap to a fiesta/escort item.

1.3 ib5 definitely fits as I'm running it. All ib5's have the same bellhousing pattern. And mines definitely a 1.3 as it came from my mates car!! Ha.

Focus alternator will charge at a default rate of 13.9v with no ecu control wire attached...so I just have the main live attached that runs to the starter...
