electrical fault??
Iv got an MK5 fiesta ghia 2000. Everytime i start the car it takes approx 5 seconds for the dials and mileage display on the dash to kick in.
Iv aslso notice if i try to drive before the display kicks in it runs very rough.
Any ideas on what could be wrong or where i need to start????

Sounds strange, the dials perform a "Sweep" when ignition is switched on if the battery is discharged but not what you have. Check the obvious battery earth connections are clean and not corroded first.

HI cheers for the replies ppl.
Just thought ill add abit more info about the problem.
It starts 1sttime all the time but the display and dials take around 20 seconds to kick in. It drives fine straight away but if I stall thats when the problem starts.
After a stall it takes abit longer to fire up or wont fire up straight away. Than it will run realy rough and feels like its gonna cut out until the dials and display kicks in than it back to normal again.
The other day it had a realy wierd thing happen after a stall it didint fire up straight away, Second time all the dials went all the way across than came back than it started on 3rd attempt.
I also noticed that mileage counter got reset this time.
It almost feels like the ecu gets reset or somthing wenever it stalls so needs some time to get back to normal.
Any ideas now???
