Default s1 battery

does anybody know where i can get a battery for a s1 turbo, tried local motorfactors, halfords etc, they all seem to be round terminal type,im after the square type, any sites reccomended, dont really want to change the leads to round,as the car is standard and all original, its been 4yrs since last battery change,it was difficult back then to get one,so any help would be greatly appreciated.......cheers

You would be better off converting to round-post as I think there is only Yuasa left who do the square-post, and that is just old stock.

By mid-2011, there will be no-one able to supply square-post (not decentish ones anyway), so you are only delaying the problem if you stay square-post.

www.carbatteryshop.co.uk
amongst others, Johnson Controls, the worlds largest car battery maker(owns several battery co's) still makes square, has to be said not all stock these though, ford been using round since at least 93, think BYD also do square.

I've bought batteries from ebay, should be type 085 on S1, but I normally fit 097, which is the type for older ford diesels, gives more cranking power, and has square posts. There is another hole in the mk3 battery tray to accomodate the larger 097 battery, as it was fitted to 1600D mk3s...

When i needed a new battery for my 2i i was told the square ones were discontinued so i bought some adaptors that clamp to the terminal of the battery then have a seperate bolt to put the car's conections onto so you dont need to change your wireing around and they were only a quid for the pair
