Hi can any one shine a bit if light on some thing for me i am thonking about buying a new gear box but i am unsure if i will lose the power band with the new gear ratios the first set shown is my sport ka ratios and the second is the st150 ratios, can any one tell me if it will work or if it will affect performance.
if any one can help it would be great,
1st 3.15
2nd 1.93
3ed 1.28
4th 0.95
5th 0.76
Final drive 4.25
I belive the above id the sport ka ratios
And the other set are
3:58 1st
2:04 2nd
1:41 3rd
1:11 4th
0:88 5th
3:82 final drive

 

Just work out your speeds in each gear, easy to do and would give you a good idea, the lower the gearing in general the better acceleration, unless it's a nice fat torquey motor like a td then high gearing can be used, but ford do choose very well when deciding, so unless you have similar power I'd stick with normal.
