every time i turn the car on and turn the heaters on why does the ac turn on ? it really annoys me in the mornings.

Its a 59 plate focus zetec.

It runs the ac to demist the windscreen when set to windscreen on the dial. If you set it to blow down for instance, i dont think it will bring it on.

As said when the direction is set to windscreen the A/C is on REGARDLESS of blower position (For this reason it's colored orange), this is done as A/C is a great humidifier and hence the best way to clear the screen. Simply move to another position if you don't want A/C.

okay, so if the ac comes on will it turn itself or do i need to manually do it ?

it will stay on the whole time its in windscreen position, or my dingo does

A/C is a great de-humidifier, as in removes moisture.
