which is the best head to use on a 16 cvh to get the most power and what will i need to do to it?

Pretty sure it's the heart shaped lean burn head from 86 onwards, ported etc dependant on what you want.

is there any cast numbers on the head not sure what cam it is can i get bigger valves fitted

I'm certain you could get bigger valves, phone 01359 251888 and speak to brian, he's been doing engines for 50,000 years, well seems like it anyway, they know the cvh inside out.

would a rs1600i head be a good start with the solid lifters already in?

I am sure the 1600i was pre lean burn ?, and so different shape chamber so a no go for best results, but phone the number I gave you.
