no such thing as a mk7 escort chap
the 96 escort is a mk6 and no its totally different and wont fit, youll need one from a mk3/mk4 escort or mk1/mk2 orion for direct replacement.

Ah well,,,my mates 96 Escort just broke its Timing belt so I was hoping to knick a few parts from it,guess its off to the motor factors.
