Default jerkin/hiccuping??

Evening

every now and again, when just pottering, normally in 4th/5th at low speeds, there is an abrupt jerk/hiccup, almost like hitting a kerb, its not a gradual thing, any body else experience this??

FYI, the owner before me has fitted front pads, and on the drivers side, the retaining spring for the pad is missing, the passenger side is not fitted correctly, would this abrupt jerk be the pads resitting in the correct position...???

as i think it happens after a period of braking.....

I would first check the brakes thoroughly and get the missing points replaced from a safety perspective and hopefully this may sort your knocking issue as well, they may well be binding them releasing.

lol sorry all, its a 1999 1.8 16v focus, its hard to say where its coming from, i tried quickly tapping the brakes, and its the same effect, like a sudden... "hiccup", jolt, jerk, then the car carries on normally.

I cant really replace the retaining spring as i dont THINK they are available separately??? i fitted some aftermarket rear anti roll bar links, but, when do you stop tightening the nut down, as i could just keep on going. found a knock from the front susp to the anti roll bar D bush,

Found the problem, the spark plugs hadnt been changed, they were manky original motorcraft ones that were past their use by date.
